Police double standard and ignorant response
"Almost a week after off-duty PBSO Deputy Shatara K. Shatara shot and killed his 21-year-old son, the Delray Beach Police Department is still not releasing much information, but it would like the public to "have an open mind" and judge "only when you have all of the facts.""
"The Delray Beach PD is currently investigating the shooting death of Khamis Shatara, which occurred the morning of Christmas Eve at the deputy's Delray Beach apartment. Deputy Shatara was detained after the shooting, but Delray Beach PD spokesperson Sgt. Nicole Guerriero tells New Times that she is not able to tell us how long he was detained or even if he is still in custody. She has also ignored our request for an incident report of the deadly shooting."
""I don't know if you realize this, but there was a holiday this week," Guerriero wrote in an email, adding: "I am not obligated to give you more than what is outlined in Florida State Statute.""
You had me at Florida...

Cops and their own Funerals
Has anyone else noticed that cops drive more like dicks after a funeral for another cop, expecting everyone to bow down to their feelings? Normal people die and are forgotten every day who have a more positive impact on individuals and society, who demand no special tribute. We all die, so why should some be more important than others even after death?

Dumb Cop in Rare Form
Last night, Dumb Cop next door had a party. Half a dozen of the vehicles drive to the party were parked illegally; blocking the sidewalk, in front of a fire hydrant, and even double-parked perpendicular to the curb.
As much as I hate resorting to it, I called the local sheriff, as Dumb Cop works for another county and the two agencies don't get along. Works out well for the rest of us I suppose. A deputy showed up and made them all re-park and then left.
Then the party got into full swing. At about 2am, I got tired of it and called county again. The neighbors and party guests were in rare form; drunk and loud, howling at the moon. A deputy came out and they got quiet for a while, then cranked the music up and got obnoxious again for another hour or so.
And cops wonder why most people don't like them.

Ohio State Gets Armored Fighting Vehicle: “Specifically Designed for Asymmetric Warfare”
If we're not living in a militarized police state, then please explain what Ohio State University could possibly need with one of these:
The Ohio State University Department of Public Safety has acquired an armored military vehicle that looks like it belongs in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Gary Lewis, a senior director of media relations at OSU, told The Daily Caller via email that the "unique, special-purpose vehicle is a replacement" for the "police fleet." He called the armored jalopy "an all-hazard, all-purpose, public safety-response vehicle" with "obviously enhanced capabilities."
